Western Energy Production Closes on Joint Agreement

Bakersfield, Calif., May 25, 2011 - Western Energy Production, an oil and gas company headquartered in Bakersfield, California, announced today that it closed on a joint agreement with a major California oil and gas operator, effective April 1, 2011. The agreement is related to Western Energy’s San Joaquin Basin leasehold acreage and Western will retain a non-operated working interest.

Steven Marshall, Western Energy’s managing director, said, “The activity in the San Joaquin Valley oil shales continues to heat up, as evidenced by the recent deal making we are starting to see and also the entrance of some major shale players to the basin such as Hess, to name one. As for Western, this move allowed us to include one of the valley’s major players in our land position, while we retain a non-operated working interest and upside in future development.”

He added, “We will continue to strategically add to our 100,000-plus acre position, inside and outside of our focus area, as we assess the various joint venture opportunities in front of us. The plays in the focus area include the Monterey shale, the Kreyenhagen and Tumey shales, the emerging Whepley shale and Vaqueros sand play, which serve to provide Western with significant positions in all of the play types. With our five-year leases and five-year options, we feel like we are in a great position as the various plays are developed at their own pace.”

Managing Director Steven Marshall to Discuss California’s Monterey Shale Play

Bakersfield, Calif., May 15, 2010 - Steven Marshall, Managing Director of Western Energy Production, LLC, is a featured speaker at the 2010 “Developing Unconventional Oil” Conference and Exhibition sponsored by Hart E&P to be held on May 18, 2010 in Denver, Colorado. Over 700 oil and gas company and financial industry attendees have registered to attend the conference and exhibition that will focus on unconventional oil plays.

Mr. Marshall will be discussing the opportunities presented by the emerging California Monterey Shale play and how Western Energy plans to develop leasehold interests in the play.

Mr. Marshall stated, “The Monterey Shale play is at the center of attention in the California oil industry and Western Energy is pleased that our early entry in the emerging play has subsequently established one of the largest acreage positions in the heart of that play. We, like many other industry leaders and analysts, think this area will be of great significance to further increasing oil and gas production in California, much like the Bakken shale has been to North Dakota.”

This conference will also feature presentations from other leading operators in the Bakken, Three Forks, Niobrara, Monterey, Mowry and emerging oil-prone shales discussing the economics, geology and the technology that is taking unconventional oil from recovery to market.
